The Colombian automotive industry accounts for 6.2% of the GDP and 2.5% of the personnel employed in the manufacturing sector, making Colombia the fifth largest automobile manufacturer in Latin America.
In Colombia, the automotive industry comprises vehicle assembly (including trucks, buses and motorcycles) and the manufacturing of parts used in the assembly of OEMs and spare parts, thus connecting suppliers from other industries such as the metal mechanics, petrochemical (plastics and rubber) and textile industries.
